Updated 30 April 2012 In Afghanistan (yet again) and slowly updating the site so please bear with me! The Thames Challenge and Malvern Challenge went very well in 2011 and more details about the events and previous events can be found on this site. Both attracted lots of people who had great days out and both raised over £4,000 in total. In fact, the Thames event and the three Malvern Challenge events have raised over £36,000 for Help for Heroes! Thank you to everyone who have either taken part or assisted over the years. Whilst I am here, I am going to be contacting everyone involved in both challenges last year to start planning this years events. A brief update on each event will be listed on this front page. We will also be updating information on Help for Heroes events being held in Oxfordshire on the Help for Heroes pages above. HELP FOR HEROES VOLUNTEERS We are looking for people to assist us in Oxfordshire by registering as a H4H volunteer. You can get involved by; 1 Being part of a team at events selling merchandise, collecting donations and chatting to the public about the charity. 2 Talking about the charity to school assemblies, at functions and to other groups such as Womens Institutes. 3 Getting involved at home by advertising upcoming events in the county via newspaper articles, radio, tv, internet and via posters So, if you are keen on helping raise money and awareness of the charity/injured troops please e mail me on dave.lewis@h4hcounty.org.uk THAMES CHALLENGE 2012 We have not selected a date for this yet but I think early in June is favourite at the moment. The pages on this site describe the event last year and this years event will be similar with a few changes. It is a great day out involving a lovely walk along an unspoilt stretch of the Thames. The pubs along the way are great to stop off at and we plan to have some form of music at each of them. MALVERN CHALLENGE 2012 We have the Hills booked, the start area at Bromesberrow estate booked, the Mount Pleasant Hotel at the finish area booked and the date of Saturday 1st September set in stone. I just need to get walkers to register and people to help out on the day. Simples!
